Delivering Compassion Returns for 2021

It’s that time of year again, where Christmas music is playing around the clock, festive lights line the streets, and goodwill is expressed to our fellow citizens. Unfortunately, it’s also the time of year when many people struggle to make ends meet, struggle to find suitable shelter, and struggle to find enough food to eat.

Santa YEG, our legion of volunteers, and our corporate partners are back to make a difference again by chipping in to lighten the burden on the incredible organizations who fight so hard year round to serve our city’s most vulnerable populations.

There’s a few main ways we’ll be chipping in and looking for your participation to make the initiatives a success.

1. Delivering Compassion Nights

We’ll be assembling volunteers, preparing meals, and serving them to those in need. Each Delivering Compassion night requires 15-20 volunteers and approximately 2.5 hours of time from 3:30pm-6:00pm on the nights we’re active.

2. Grant A Wish Program

Back for the second straight year, we’ll be gifting $500 gift cards to families or individuals in need through a community nomination process. We’re looking for personal or corporate contributions to make those gift cards available. Last year, we distributed 22 x $500 gift cards to people in need. We’re looking to surpass that number this year with the need being so great.

3. Delivering Compassion YEG Day

In perhaps our most favourite day of the year, Delivering Compassion YEG Day returns on Friday, December 17th for its third straight year. This entire day is dedicated to generating as many random acts of kindness as possible and then sharing them on social media using the hashtag #deliveringCompassionYEG as a way to generate a wave of kindness and let the country know what a compassionate and generious city Edmonton really is.
